For Jetted Baths:
When you see the junk and gunk that builds up in your jetted bathtub,
you'll be shocked! It only takes a few minutes to perform the initial
purge, any enjoy clean, clear & fresh water in your jetted bath.
We recommend one (1) teaspoon periodically (usually every 4-6 weeks)
to purge all the bio-waste and film, and bacteria from the vessel.
This cleaner is a far better cleaner than dishwasher detergent or household
bleach. Bleach can ruin your pump seal and rubber o-rings inside the
jets. And dishwasher detergent is even being blamed for PROMOTING bacteria
build-up, causing even more problems. A few 2 ounce containers should
be enough for the entire year for most residential jetted bathtubs.
We recommend you purchase an extra container so you can take it with
you when you travel. A little "purge" in the hotel jetted tub before
you bathe will allow you to fully enjoy your bath and not be concerned
about prior bio-waste. Tell the hotel to get some too!

Filter cartridges will clean-up easier and last longer. Less than one
teaspoon a week is all you need for most tubs. Each 2 ounce container
has 8 teaspoons of gel in it. Typically, you need 4 containers for
a full yearly program.
We do recommend small amounts of a sanitizer on a daily or weekly basis,
since Hot Tub Secret™ is not a sanitizer. Sanitizers kill bacteria
and other disease-carrying organisms that can harbor in frequented
Hot Tubs.
FIRST TIME HOT TUB USAGE ("The Purge"):
- Remove the cartridge(s) from your hot tub, clean it (them) with water and remove the gunk. (You'll put the cartridge(s) back in AFTER this "purge" process.)
- Add 1 tablespoon of Hot Tub Secret™ to the water and run the jets and blower for 15-30 minutes. You may need a little more than a tablespoon for older larger spas or tubs or have to run the jets longer.
- You should notice a brown froth appear soon after it's added. This is the gunk, sediment, scale, manufacturing gunk, bio products and other contaminants that are being purged from the plumbing and filtration infrastructure. THIS IS NORMAL.
- Drain the spa, clean the gunk out, hose off the shell and wipe it clean!
- Add new tap water.
- Adjust the pH and Total Alkalinity to 7.4 and 120 PPM respectively.
- Add 1 level teaspoon of Hot Tub Secret™ per 500 gallons of water weekly.
 If
you use chlorine or bromine, add it after you add Hot Tub Secret. If your vessel
is equipped with an Ozonator you should still use Hot Tub Secret™ Just add
a small amount of sanitizer periodically as you do now. Non-chlorine shock
(Potassium monopersulphate) is recommended in spas. However, you may use granular
sodium Di-chlor, liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) or calcium hypochlorite.
If the water becomes a little cloudy or just not brilliantly clear, you may
wish to test if you have enough Hot Tub Secret™ in the vessel. A good
way to check is to take a small clear empty bottle, put a few ounces of treated
water in it and shake it. If you get lots of foam you have too much gel. A little
foam is perfect. If you get no foam whatsoever, add a little more Hot Tub Secret™.
You have to tinker with just the right amount until you get to know your spa
and the amount of use it gets. After a few weeks, you'll be able to quickly add
just the right amount of gel to do the job.
You may be using Nature2® or Frog™ sticks in your spa. This is fine!
Just remember to add a little sanitizer as they recommend. Hot Tub Secret will
compliment these programs and keep your water sparkling clean.
WEEKLY DOSAGE:
- Add 1 level teaspoon of Hot Tub Secret™ per 500 gallons of water weekly.
- If you wish to use a little bit of chlorine (Di-Chlor) or bromine, it's ok. You won't need nearly as much as you have been using.
Change your hot tub water every 2-4 months and thoroughly rinse the shell.
There's no need to do another purge as you did when you first started using
the Secret. You will see that the pH and TA will remain at a constant level.
Your water will feel soft and silky. Your water will smell fantastically fresh.
You will be soaking in water that is not aggressive. In a nutshell, we feel
