Alternative
Sanitizers in the pool industry are considered chlorine
alternatives. Typically, swimming pools have been
treated with various types of halogen oxidizers such as
chlorine and/or bromine. Alternatives are gaining
in popularity because of the negative effects chlorine
and bromine have on swimmer's skin, hair, eyes, and swimwear,
as well as what these types of harsh sanitizers can do
to the vinyl liner or pool finish. Popular Alternative
sanitizers used today are mineral purifiers, salt generators,
salt & ozone combination systems, copper/silver ionizers,
and a host of other systems that seem to work exceptionally
well with limited use of a sanitizer/oxidizer. Name
brands are King Technology's Frog System, Nature 2 by Zodiac,
Pioneer System Ionizers, Auto Pilot and Goldline salt chlorine
generators, SPP's Pool & Spa Secret™ to name a few. |
