ASK THESE QUESTIONS, BEFORE YOU BUY A STANDARD WINTER COVER

In general, the best way to make sure you are getting a good Winter Cover and a good deal is to deal with professionals who can help you every step of the way. Buy from a company that wants you to call them on the phone. Buy from a company that will actually answer your phone call and not give you an automated greeting, telling you to order online when their phone is busy (of course their number is always busy, they don't want to talk to you). At SPP, we do! So no matter whom you choose to buy from, always be sure to ask the Internet or Catalog Company:

Where is the Winter Cover I may buy manufactured? Is it made domestically or imported?

Is a written Warranty included with the Cover?
Each new Cover should be accompanied by a written Warranty from the manufacturer.

Can I get a fax or e-mail of the actual Warranty before I buy? Is the actual Warranty posted on their website?
If it's not on their website, ask them to email, fax or mail you a copy of the manufacturer's warranty before you buy. SPP features detailed Warranty information on our website and will be happy to provide you with a copy of the actual Warranty upon request.

Who do I deal with if a problem occurs - the actual manufacturer, an agent of theirs, or the retailer?
At SPP, we're always happy to assist you with Warranty issues. We can provide a copy of the specific Warranty, as well as contact information for the manufacturer to help you resolve any issues. We stand behind you before AND after the sale.

Will the Cover have metal grommets or the more expensive fabric grommets?
Metal grommets (or "eyelets") are typically used on imported Covers. These grommets can rip out easily, cut your Cover and scratch your pool. Our domestic Covers incorporate sewn-in reinforced poly fabric loops for the cable to go through... they don't rip out!

Since grommets are the #1 reason for Winter Cover failure, are they part of the Warranty coverage?
Typically not on imported covers. But domestic cover manufacturers generally do include grommet coverage as part of their Warranty protection.

What is meant by "full replacement"? What does this mean? What is pro-rated and at what percentage?
Warranties differ by Cover model and manufacturer. "Full replacement" gives you just that - a replacement - for a period of time, followed by a pro-rated warranty which gives you a percentage of your purchase price back for a specific length of time. Know in advance what you are paying for, and how to get it!

Is the retailer a member of the Better Business Bureau? Can I find them listed on the www.bbbonline.org?
If not, contact the BBB Online and ask about the Internet or Catalog Company you plan on purchasing from, BEFORE you buy. Their phone number is 703-276-0100. Or go to www.bbbonline.org. Follow the instructions regarding how to get a report on a particular company. You should be suspect if a company is not even listed on the BBB platform. A company that has been in business for at least a few years should be! SPP has been a Better Business Bureau member since we started in 1994, and you can find us listed on the BBB's online directory.

Can I get the company on the phone and talk with a pool professional?
You should be wary of companies that do not accept phone calls and that encourage you to order online and contact them via email only. Is the company ready, willing and able to assist me every step of the way?
